Training Day!!!

Yesterday the Lowell Fire Department cycled their on duty crews though evaluations in the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services mobile burn trailer.

The crews got valuable time in the trailer practicing knockdown room and content fire which are simulated with propane props. which are ignited and controlled by a control room. Members of the DFS standby both in the trailer and outside will the crews are training.

This training also provides the crews to test their equipment to ensure the pumps are functioning properly, to make sure hoses are not defective and in need of replacing. The crews also got the chance to test thier SCBA or Scott Pack which provides them the much needed air in a smoke filled room.

Crews where also put through the riggers of pugging a hydrant.
