Loom up, from the ramp!
Ok I got to admit I have been slow as .... to upload Blogs! But after last night I got to throw something up.
So, here goes! Do I start with the cheesy phrase which I normally do of the tones sounded and the guys dropped everything racing out the station with the "Q" blaring!? Well that is basically what happened, Fire Alarm came across the air wave dispatching companies around 6:00 to 17 Riveredge Road for a reported fire.
Engine 5; out of the west station. just about a mile away; pulled out of the station and rolled down the ramp and before they even signed on responding, the words to paraphrase "We have a loom up from the end of the ramp fire alarm!" came across the radio. Car 10 the Captain signed on and called dispatch advising them to fill the assignment. As Engine 5 pulled up and advised heavy fire showing requesting the 2nd alarm be struck.
Crews stretched the big lines and began hitting it hard from the outside. Struggling with water the senior officer on E5 advised the 3rd due to come in Belva Road and lay in; but; the situation was corrected quickly and companies had the much needed water to flow the big lines, deck guns and aerial streams.
Companies operating in the surround & drown ops. water was flying at what quickly became a shell of a building scorched and smoldering. With the extreme heat command called for the 3rd alarm to be struck bring fresh bodies to the scene.
At one point in time command sent a hand fully of guys interior for a brief bit, which was reportedly to insure a gas to the building had been shut off, believe crews believed there might of been an active leak at one point.
With the guys pulled out the call was made to let the ladder pipe have its ways, hitting it from above. In what could be considered the final efforts to put the TKO on this one.
