Water Rescue in Harold Parker State Forest
Midday on Jan. 23, 2016 the 911 lines in Andover, Massachusetts began to rig. As the operators answered them staying calm and cool, they found themselves faced with reports from frantic people of not one, not two but possible as many as three people though the ice and in the freezing waters of Field Pond in Harold Parker State forest.
Andover fire department quickly responded with multiple resources, some of which where the boat, men donned in cold water rescue suites, inflatable ice sleds, throw ropes. Along with that equipment used out on the ice, they brought in two ambulances and medic units which staged next to the pond read to treat the patients for exposure symptoms.
Members of the Andover fire department with the aid of police extricated the men from the cold waters of Field Pond through the use of throw rope and transferred them to the warmth of the ambulance in minutes and transported to an area hospital.
Members of the fire department returned to the ice to remove the fishing equipment used by the guys and to insure the others on the Pond left.
Great job by all!
