Fire on back deck of home on Balsam Dr., Chelmsford, MA.
Around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday February 6, 2016 the streets of Chelmsford, MA began to fill with the sounds of sirens and horns as the air on Balsam Dr. began to fill with smoke.
As crews pulled up they were confronted by a moderate smoke condition coming from the rear of the house. With the help of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) they made their way through the smoke to find the rear deck was on fire.
They quickly laid in a line and began to extinguish the fire. While crews were outside dumping water on the fire other firefighters entered the home checking for extension thermal imaging cameras, better known as a “TIC.” After a complete search with the TIC it was determined that there was no extension to the structure its self, the fire was contained to the deck and siding.
While crews from Chelmsford were fighting the fire neighboring department covered the town.
