Early this evening members of the Woburn fire department respond to Hond pond after receiving reports of an overturned canoe in the water.

As they were responding they received an update from the police advising that the canoe was near the island and the occupants of the canoe are believed to be on the island.

Once on scene crews deployed the rescue boat and searched the water and island near the canoe and confirmed there where 3 occupants on shore of the island. All of which were escorted in the rescue boat back to shore and the fire department recovered the canoe. The rescued occupants of the canoe declined medical attention on scene.
