So how many PSI does it take to pump water to the top of the garage!?!
The other day members assigned to the civic center Engine3, Ladder3 and the Rescue (Ladder3 and the Rescue running spare apparatus) did a drill in which they tied into the standpipe system high atop the parking garage in Post office square. With the engine tied to a hydrant and into the standpipe crews then huffed it up the stairs with high raise packs to the top of the five level garage tied in and began to flow. During the drill you could here via the radio members on the top level calling for more pressure, "Engine3 boost it up!" they would call, minutes later "Engine3 bring up the pressure!" These radio communication went back and forth for several minutes as the crews where not getting the needed pressure to the nozzle to battle any possible blaze that they may face. They then turned to trouble shooting the pressure issue and discovered; which was a good learning lesson for a new FFOP, a kink in the hose line.
