Middleton Battled a 2nd alarm on Forest St.
Early Monday morning around 4:00 a.m. the residence at 171 Forest St. in Middleton woke up to their house being on fire.
They where at the time staying in a mobile home next to the house because the house suffered damage this past summer from a tree stick. Unfortunately this allow the fire to go undetected for some time. They say "We where woken up by our dogs, no stop barking and looked out the window."
The first arriving units encountered heavy fire throughout the structure and made the call for additional resources bring in N. Reading , N. Andover, and Danvers to the scene. And they had Topsfield supply an engine for coverage along with a second piece from N. Reading which sent their ladder for coverage.
Crew struggled a little bit with water issues being in an area where hydrants are few and fear in between.
It was not long into the battle that the senior office made the call to go defensive on the structure fighting the blaze from the exterior only with multiple landlines. With the surround and drown going on crews continued to dump water on the structure til about 7:30 a.m.
