Andover medical & tech rescue


Seen here is Andover Fire and Police removing an injured bicyclist from deep in the woods along High Plain rd.

Yesterday Andover fire recieved calls of an injured bicyclist in the woods near the leaf dump on High Plain rd., and dispatched an engine an ambulance to the area.

When they arrived they could not initially located the bicyclist. Working with dispatch who was in contact with people in the woods with the patient crews moved to an area near #332 High Plain rd. where there is a trail entrance which lead them into the patient, who was approximately a mile and a half in the woods.

After walking into the patient it was determined that additional resources would be needed and a request for the ATV with stokes basket trailer was made.

Advanced life support know as ALS personal where requested and responded. At one point in time the availability of Boston MedFlight was made because the patient was reported to have a head injure; but; the ALS crew determined his level of consciousness was ok an MedFlight would not be required.

After approximately 15 to 20 minutes from the time of the call crews where able to reach the patient with the necessary equipment to carefully and safely remove him from the woods to the awaiting ambulance on High Plain rd. which took him to Lawrence general hospital.
