Tewksbury Fatal on Clark Road
Yesterday afternoon around quarter to one the 911 lines in Tewksbury comm center began to buzz, with calls reporting an motor vehicle accident in the area of 354 Clark Road.
The tones dropped and the response began. As companies where rolling out, still gearing up the dispatcher came across the radios with reports of one person possible unconscious trapped in a car.
As the first units began to arrive on scene they found themselves with a chaotic scene which where conveyed to the dispatch in a bunch of controlled; but; frantic communications to paraphrase “we have a 2 car with entrapment, jaws going to work!” “We have a unconscious patient trapped, where’s the medic?” “Dispatch start Medflight!”
As the communication went back and forth anyone listening could tell that this was more than “Just an MVA”
Several minutes into the incident and shortly after the 1st of what would become 3 patient was extricated the Medflight was cancelled. Later it became know that the patient was deemed non-viable by the paramedics.
Attention and manpower quickly turned to help the firefighters and medics who were already working on the other vehicle which also had minor entrapment and required extrication of 1 occupant.
Ultimately in the end 3 patients were removed from the scene and transported to area hospitals.
Lowell police assisted in securing the roadway, Mass State Police accident reconstruction responded to determine the cause of the accident.
If there ever was a positive side to anyone losing their life in such a drastic way, there is a positive side to this story. The patient who passed away do to her injuries was an organ donor and was brought to the area hospital where her organs were harvested giving someone somewhere a second chance at life. May she rest in peace and her life carry on with the recipient she has help.
