Salem, NH. 3rd alarm fire at 80 Main St.
Early this morning the firefighters of Salem, NH. where awoken by the tones dropping and this time it was not for a medical or lift assist, it was for a structure fire!
And from the rip they know it was something, because the fire dispatcher announced over the radio "I can see heavy smoke from dispatch!"
The crews from HQ rolled out and was looking at a header in the sky, just a couple blocks away.
As, they pulled up and went to work stretching hand lines into the building they encountered heavy, heavy fire and where pushed back. So, they took up a defensive posture and went into the surround and drown mode.
Struggling with water pressure issue and heavy fire the Senior Officer called for the 2nd alarm, shortly thereafter the Alpha / Bravo corner of the building collapsed.
The fire keep raging in the balloon type structure running the walls and spaces between floors.
Crews did their best to battle back setting up LDH lines with monitors. Methuen's Tower carefully maneuvered through the streets and hoses to get in position to throw the stick.
But things keep getting hot and hairy! With heavy fire still running throughout the build Command made the call for the 3rd alarm.
During the fight the building collapsed in on itself several times making it weaker and more unstable each time eventually collapsing totally.
