HAZMAT @ SPEEDWAY

As thing should of been quieting down for the night, the phone lines at North Reading Fire Department where lighting up and ringing off the hook!e

Crew initially hit the road for a report of strange odor at a business; but; the PD reported back prior to arrival that it was a septic system issue and the odor was coming from that and Eng2ine cleared.

But before the rig could get back to the bay dispatch came over the radio "Fire Alarm to Engine 2", The rig acknowledged back "Engine 2 !", "Engine 2, I just got a phone call for a report of a chemical spill at Speedway!" The rig responded "We're on!"

And with that the still night air of good old North Reading filled with sirens and air horns as companies raced across the town.

Once on scene crews SCBA up and made entry. They found a spill which was a mixture of bleach and vinegar.

There was a couple of patients as a result of exposure who need evaluation and transport. North Reading's Res1cue was able to get on the road right away with the cover company; but; the 2nd rig was need too, with no mutual aid available per C5 the box was requested and transmitted. Shortly after that NRFD Res2cue got underway to the scene.

State DFS was requested and responded. They metered the structure and deemed it safe. Companies cleared shortly after and the recall on the box was made.
