Child struck by car, oh no!
Just around dinner time the what should of been a quiet fun night for both fireman and kids playing got turned upside down for both.
With A1 tied up on a medical call, A3 and Engine 2 was toned out to a reported pedestrian struck by a car. Engine 2 station being less then 1,000 feet away they arrived in seconds.
Once on scene they discovered they had a 7 year old child which had been struck by a car. The Child had a serious head wound. Know if this child was to have a chance they would have to fly them to Boston, so Boston MedFlight was requested.
A3 signed on the ALS Medics out of Lowell signed on and the streets began filling with sirens and air horns as crews raced to help this child.
As unit cleared that other medical call they signed on to assist. The SO assigned them to secure the LZ for the inbound helicopter.
"MedFlight 5, LZ command we're 2 minutes out!", "LZ secure!" The radio went back and forth with updates. "MedFlight to Command is patient at the LZ? ,"A3 en route to LZ" And as fast as the incident happened the child was moved to the LZ, onboard and en route to Tuffs Medical Boston.
The Tewksbury police secured the scene to conduct an investigation which was aided by MSP accident RECONN. Unit.
