Traumatically injured
Today Andover fire received a 911 call reporting a person trapped underneath a fallen tree in the rear of a home on Gray Road.
When companies arrived in the area they directed to the rear of a property far from the roadway, where they would find the patient who was pinned by a fallen tree.
Crews began extricating, which became a long and difficult process because crews had to stabilize the tree from fallen on the patient even more, while they cut cut and removed other section to safely get to the patient.
During the extrication process a determination was made by the medics that the injuries where serious enough to warrant Boston MedFlight being dispatched to standby to potentially fly the patient to a Boston trauma hospital. Within in minutes of the request Boston MedFlight made the jump from Lawrence's airport to the LZ at Merrimack Collage field.
Car2 responded to the scene and assumed command.
After extricating the patient and preforming a triage to stabilize for transport to the LZ, crews packaged the patient in the back of the wagon and off to the races A2, Lawrence's medic with field supervisor and C2 went up Route 125 to the collage. Once at the LZ the flight medic from Boston MedFlight assessed the patient and recommend ground transport to Lawrence General.
